No ‘buzz’, promise! There's zero caffeine or stimulants in BUHZ Bites — nothing that'll dial up your dog's energy. The name isn't a nod to coffee or energy drinks. "BUHZ" is our spin on the word "buzz," a tribute to the Black Soldier Fly Larvae protein in every bite — the sustainable, protein-packed star ingredient behind the treat.
Do the numbers mean anything?
They do. Each number corresponds to a specific treat variety and reflects the order in which our founder developed the formula. Think of them as a little timeline of the recipes that built TREEV.
What's with the BUHZ Bites treat names?
Every BUHZ Bite is named after a street in Brooklyn, NY — Rogers, Clarkson, Flatbush, and Lenox. They're the streets and neighborhood that surround TREEV's birthplace, and a daily reminder of where it all started.
Where do you source ingredients?
We source our ingredients both domestically and internationally, with an intentional focus on partnering with local and minority-owned farms and producers whenever possible. The reality is that minority-owned farms make up a small share of the industry, and while elevating and supporting those producers is a core part of our mission, it lives alongside an equally important commitment: the quality of every ingredient we use, the way it's grown or raised, and the impact it has on your pet's health. That's why we hand-pick every supplier we work with — holding each to the same standards of quality, transparency, and sustainability that define TREEV.
Why insect protein instead of traditional meat protein?
The pet food industry leans heavily on meat and dairy — roughly 1.83 million tons of meat go into pet food production each year, and global meat and dairy consumption is projected to climb more than 70% by 2050. Livestock factory farms already account for over 75% of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. Insect protein is a smarter path forward. The Black Soldier Fly Larvae protein in BUHZ Bites is highly bioavailable, meaning it's easy for your dog to digest and absorb. It's also dense with nutrients — packing roughly 2–3x more protein than traditional sources like beef. On top of that, it's far more sustainable and far easier to scale responsibly. Better for your dog, better for the planet.
Where do you make your treats?
Everything is made in the USA. TREEV was born in Brooklyn, NY, and as of 2025, production has moved to Arizona — same recipes, same standards, just a bigger kitchen.
My dog has sensitive teeth — are the treats pliable?
Absolutely. Every TREEV treat is soft-baked, slow-cooked at a low temperature to draw out excess moisture while keeping the bite tender and pliable. Easy on sensitive teeth, satisfying for every dog.
